The board and staff of Hillsboro Community Youth Choir would like to express sincere thanks to the Hillsboro Arts and Culture Council for their recent award to acknowledge our achievements in the first decade of our service to Hillsboro and Washington County We are extremely grateful for the Council’s acknowledgement of our dedication, commitment, and success in serving and supporting aspiring young musicians in Washington County. What is the Hillsboro Community Youth Choir?
Proudly serving the population of Washington County, the Hillsboro Community Youth Choir (HCYC) is made up of three choirs of young singers from grades K – 12.
Our two auditioned choirs include Premiere for grades 5 – 8, and Encore for grades 9 – 12.
We also offer two non-auditioned sections of our Prelude choir for grades K – 2 and 3 – 4.

“The Hills are Alive!”
We hope you’ll join us at 7:00pm on Friday evening, March 11th at the Century High school auditorium to enjoy a special selection of songs from “The Sound of Music.
And, we are very excited to be performing on Sunday, March 13 in a concert with Metropolitan Youth Symphony and Hillsboro School District Mariachi Una Voz, at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, Portland, at 7:30pm.
Maestro White of the MYS will lead a fantastic program of Latin American inspired symphonic music, mariachi classics with HSD Mariachi Una Voz, and choral music with HCYC. Young Singers Wanted!
If you are a young singer in Banks, Yamhill, Tigard, North Plains, Forest Grove, Cornelius, Beaverton or Hillsboro, why not join us! We’re always looking for new singers. You can contact us any time to let us know of your interest. There are many opportunities for fun, such as group retreats and outings Choral Directors Mary Kay Babcock and Lindsey Pounders are the BEST – ask any choir member – you’ll have a blast and learn a ton. Premiere and Encore choir rehearsals take place on Wednesdays after school at Century High School.
You might wonder what it is like to audition! Most auditions will last less than 10 minutes. You will be asked to demonstrate your lowest useful note and your highest useful note via simple fun vocal exercises, you will sing back three note phrases to test your ability to retain pitch. Lastly, you’ll be invited to sing a familiar song in your range.
Note: Auditions are not required for the Prelude Choir (grades K – 4). Prelude choir rehearsals take place after school on Mondays at Century High School.
